Workshop information Congregational singing is a key way in which people encounter God. This workshop will explore how to integrate hymns and songs into worship in creative and meaningful ways. It will also consider how to build a healthy congregational song repertoire, recognising that songs are crucial in both individual faith formation and shaping congregational culture. Finally, it will look at practical ways to introduce new songs and a variety of sources for these in a range of styles.DateSaturday 30th September / 10:00am - 3:30pmWho is it for? Ministers, Deacons, Readers, Ministry Candidates, Designers and Leaders of Worship, Local Worship Leaders, Organists, Church Musicians, Song Leaders. Rooted in Church of Scotland practice, but open to those from any church tradition. Suitable for both musicians and non-musicians.TutorIain McLarty is a professional musician and worship development worker based in Glasgow. He is passionate about helping people plan worship that is collaborative, participative and contextual, bringing their communities into a meaningful encounter with God. He is an experienced church musician in a broad range of styles and delivers training and develops resources in worship for the Church of Scotland, including the upcoming supplement to CH4. He is particularly interested in music and liturgy in an ecumenical context and is regularly involved in planning and leading worship at various national and international events including for the World Council of Churches. He writes a lectionary based blog for Trinity called &quot;Songs for Sunday&quot;, offering song suggestions for every Sunday in the Church year.
