The Academy at Harmless

Harmless has been commissioned to deliver a range of mental health, suicide prevention, self harm and suicide bereavement courses.

<h3>LIVE ONLINE TRAINING via MS Teams</h3><h3>Nottinghamshire County Council, Nottingham City Council and NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICB have commissioned Harmless to deliver a range of Mental Health, Self Harm awareness and Suicide prevention courses. </h3><h3>FREE Half-day Self Harm Awareness training </h3><h3>TARGET AUDIENCE:</h3><ul><li>Community and voluntary sector organisations/community champions who work with those at risk of suicide and self-harm</li><li>Organisations working with those who are financially vulnerable (e.g. advice services, debt agencies, food banks, libraries)</li><li>Adult Social Care</li><li>Primary Care</li><li>First Responders (e.g. police, fire service, paramedics)</li><li>Housing/homelessness sector</li><li>Social prescribers/community workers</li><li>Public Health commissioned services</li></ul><p><strong>You must be working/volunteering for an organisation/group who are based in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire to qualify for a funded place.</strong></p><p>For more information or advice on the courses being delivered please speak to a member of the Let's Talk Training team: training@harmless.org.uk</p><h3>Learning outcomes:</h3><ul><li>Improve awareness of self harm, types of self harm and the key issues associated with self harm</li><li>Understand the contextual issues surrounding self harm</li><li>Understand warning signs and symptoms of emotional distress and self harm and develop skills to respond to and support an individual including different approaches that might be needed for children and young people and adults</li><li>Understand ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences) for young people and adults as well as other trauma and its impact on mental wellbeing and risk of self-harm and suicide</li><li>Understand the direct and wider impact of self harm</li><li>Develop knowledge of evidence-based brief interventions and safety planning to support someone who self harms</li><li>Enhance confidence, working practice, knowledge and skills</li><li>Understand the relationship between self harm, mental health and suicide</li></ul><p>Our online training is delivered via MS Teams</p><p>Once registered, you will receive an email with login details for the session</p><p>We will provide all delegates with frequent breaks during the session to ensure that screen fatigue is kept to a minimum</p>

<p><strong>Self-Care</strong></p><p>The topics raised in the training delivery can be emotionally evocative. It is strongly advised that delegates should be aware of personal impact that training in suicide can have and should seek the appropriate reassurance, support and guidance from the Trainer delivering the session if they become distressed or affected by any of the topics raised. As an organisation, we encourage that all delegates practice self-care during their time on the course, ensuring they take adequate breaks and manage their own self-disclosure. All trainers have direct contact with a clinical team should needs arise to implement additional support.</p><p><strong>Cancellations</strong></p><p>If the delegate/organisation cancels a training place:</p><p>•	All cancellations must be confirmed via email to training@harmless.org.uk at the earliest opportunity</p><p>•	If a delegate is unable to attend the training, Harmless will allow a replacement to take their place if we are notified about any changes at least 48 hours before the training is due to take place. Replacement delegates will be required to complete a separate training registration form before we can accept them on the course</p><p>•	While this training is free, any late cancellations or non-attendance may incur a fee to be paid by the organisation</p><p>•	If Harmless is forced to cancel the training due to unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances:</p><p>•	Harmless will endeavour to cancel the training, if necessary, at the earliest opportunity•	Harmless cannot accept responsibility for any losses incurred by late cancellation</p><p><strong>Data Protection</strong> </p><p>At Harmless CIC, we’re committed to protecting and respecting your privacy.
