This year’s ‘Edith Festival’ showcases a number of cultural and historical events over the 6th - 8th October, as part of Hastings Week.

This year’s ‘Edith Festival’ – celebrating our cultural and historical heritage – showcases a number of events over the three days 6th to 8th October 2023, focusing on historical and cultural presentations, plays, films and discussions at several venues as part of Hastings Week.D﻿AY ONEAt Hastings Museum on the afternoon of 6th October there is a presentation on our ‘Historical links with Ukraine’ and the area’s key influence on our language, culture and royal bloodline for well over 1000 years, with historian Dr Caitlin Green; followed by a most unique and inspiring talk and display by researcher Sarah French on the ‘Life and Collections of Lady Annie Brassey’, wife of Lord Brassey both of whom were Victorian benefactors of the Museum (the latter also being responsible for commissioning and donating to the Town, the statue of Edith and Harold which now resides in West Marina Gardens, St Leonards) and in whose Durbar Hall the events will take place. After a break, in the evening there will be a unique and what promises to be a spectacular event of film director Andrew Kötting and writer Iain Sinclair in conversation about their life and work, much of which has been in collaboration, with screenings of some of their film and other work.
