Music in the University‘Music in the University’ is the umbrella term for all public facing music events that the University offers. It is a core public engagement offering for University of Glasgow: a key part of our civic engagement and important longstanding social and wellbeing initiative for our internal and external university communities.We provide free and affordable access to world class music from concerts and gigs, to learning and participation events, to research. All events are open for anyone to attend, regardless of any relationship with the University. The programme works closely with the internationally renowned professional Scottish music sector and has partner organisations both in the UK and beyond. We collaborate across all University of Glasgow departments, research initiatives, public facing conferences and events, development and alumni initiatives.

<h3><a href="https://www.youtube.com/live/arcfG9LlQ38?feature=shared" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The link to the LIVESTREAM is here.</a></h3><h3>. ..</h3><p></p><h1>Shahriyar Jamshidi - Kamānche</h1><p></p><h2>Programme:</h2><p>Illustrious Kurdish Kamānche player and composer Shahriyar Jamshidi reverberates the sounds of mountains in his musical journey “Pomegranate Seeds”.</p><p></p><h2>About</h2><p>Shahriyar Jamshidi, a Kurdish-Canadian Kamānche/Kamāncheh player, composer, vocalist, director of Dilan Ensemble, and co-founder of Kamancello, is well known for his creative and masterful Kurdish Kamānche (four-stringed-spiked-fiddle) improvisations, both as a soloist and in ensembles.</p><p><a href="" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Shahriyar’s special Kamānche recital will be a combination of improvisation and his compositions reflecting the not-well-presented musical heritage of Kurdistan - the vast area in the Near East that is spread among countries of Iran, Iraq, Turkey, and Syria. “Pomegranate Seeds” recital would be an exceptional musical journey to echo the authentic melodies of Kurdish nomad singers, Dengbêji (storytelling) on Kamānche while trying to adapt and translate that musical genre by crossing the boundaries across the musical themes and modes from Zagros mountains through Çiyayê Agirî (Ararat) mountain in improvisation.</a></p><p></p><h3><strong><strong>About the livestream</strong></strong></h3><p><strong><strong>This livestream is FREE and will be available only during the concert as it happens and will not be available after the concert ends.
