D﻿o you believe in the power of music to change lives?D﻿o you believe that ALL children and young people should receive a high-quality music education?F﻿or children with physical impairments, this starts with having the right instrument or supportive equipment that allows full participation in musical life.I﻿f you are a music teacher or an inclusion lead in a music service, join us to learn:-﻿ how to assess the physical needs of students remotely.-﻿ about a broad range of adapted instruments that allow children with physical impairments to take a full part in a all music-making from Whole Class teaching to elite ensembles!T﻿he day will be led by Rachel Wolffsohn from The OHMI Trust and Dr Victoria Kinsella from Birmingham City University.T﻿he cost of the day includes lunch and a comprehensive tool kit to take away.I﻿f you have questions about the course please email rachel@ohmi.org.ukA﻿bout OHMI - OHMI is a registered charity that seeks to enable people with physical impairments to participate fully in music-making. We have been operating since 2011 and you can see more about our work at www.ohmi.org.ukRachel Wolffsohn is the General Manager of the OHMI Trust. She studied Music and Education at Cardiff University and then Secondary Music Education at the University of Wales, Institute of Cardiff. After teaching secondary school music for a number of years she took an extended career break to care for her family, including her son who had a stroke when he was 2, causing right-sided hemiplegia. Rachel has worked as the General Manager of the OHMI Trust since 2014. A﻿bout Birmingham Music Education Research Group - BMERG is a cross-faculty research collaboration based at Birmingham City University. You can see more about our work at https://www.bcu.ac.uk/education-and-social-work/research/birmingham-music-education-bmergDr. Victoria Kinsella has researched widely in the fields of the arts education and creativity, in particular music and visual arts. She has worked on a number of creative arts research projects in various contexts including schools, prisons, galleries, arts centres and with educational agencies. Victoria is recognised for her work on creativity and has presented her work internationally. She is currently BERA creativities co-convenor, a strategic board member for arts connect and a senior fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
