What’s on offer?Have the opportunity to discuss with high-profile guest speakers, including:<ul><li>Michael Mansfield KC - the well-known barrister who has represented many prominent victims of miscarriages of justice and police malpractice, from Hillsborough to Orgreave.</li></ul>This workshop brings together members of the public, young people, students, academics, practitioners and activists working in the field of law and justice to discuss views on police-public relations in the UK. F﻿ree copies of the book <a href="https://www.amazon.co.uk/No-Justice-Police-Politics-Protest/dp/1789049458/ref=sr_1_10?crid=3NAT1RDF7QJEE&amp;keywords=no+justice%2C+no+police%3F&amp;qid=1660562159&amp;s=audible&amp;sprefix=no+justice+no+police+%2Caudible%2C65&amp;sr=1-10-catcorr" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">No Justice, No Police</a> by Dr Matt Clement will be available for attendees. What’s it about?The workshop is comprised of two sessions: 11am-1pm and 2pm-3.30pm. Each workshop includes short contributions from three guest speakers followed by group discussions, feedback and Q&amp;A opportunities. Drinks and light refreshments will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch or purchase food from our cafes or shops on campus. Session 1: Is it a crime to protest?Session 2: Should the police be defunded?Who’s leading the event?Dr Matt Clement, Senior Lecturer at Royal Holloway, and editor of &#x27;No Justice No Police?&#x27; (2023) will host the workshop and introduce the themes from the book.We will be joined by some Young Advocates for Youth Justice, delivered by Leaders Unlocked in partnership with the Alliance for Youth Justice to discuss their recent UK survey on trust and the police.Who is it for?Open to all! In particular, we welcome young people from local colleges and sixth forms, and interested members of the local community.W﻿here does it take place?At Royal Holloway University.
