Join Calmer this World Mental Health Day to explore societal stigma associated with mental health and tips to empower us all to talk openly.

To mark this year’s World Mental Health Day on 10th October, we are hosting a special event focusing on how to let go of the stigma associated with mental health.The official theme for this year’s awareness day is ‘Mental health is a universal human right’ as set by the World Federation for Mental Health. In light of this theme, it has never been a more significant time to challenge the stigma around mental health and empower individuals to lead well-informed, happier and healthier lives both in and outside of work.We’ve come a long way in our understanding of the complexity of mental health, though there’s still a long way to go. The reality is that our mental health plays a vital part in our overall health and wellbeing - put simply, when our mental health is affected, it has a knock-on effect on the other aspects of our health, i.e. physical, emotional, social and spiritual.In many cultures, whether at a national, company, or even familial level, there still exists a pressure to keep worries, feelings or problems to yourself, or to not discuss them outside of the cultural community. Whether due to lack of awareness, education or other reasons, this often leads individuals to feel stifled in their self-expression, can prevent them from seeking support, and even impair recovery from mental health issues.This event will provide you with:•	An overview of recent global and national statistics around common societal stigma as-sociated with mental health today•	An understanding of the origins of mental health stigma, and the benefits of prioritising mental wellness in daily life•	Strategies to empower more meaningful conversations about mental health, both in and outside of work This session is open to entrepreneurs, freelancers and all staff, managers and senior leaders in business teams.Contacts us at karen@thisiscalmer.com to inform the Calmer team of any accessibility needs.
