<h3>We are asked all the time to support families who's children display what is commonly known as "challenging behaviour".</h3><h3>We are delighted to bring our expertise into a webinar where we aim to share our knowledge and improve understanding of behaviour.</h3><h3>The first stage in being able to manage behaviour to ensure it's healthy and appropriate is to spend time understanding the reasons behind it. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE AT LEAST ONE REASON (often more!).</h3><h3>Kelly Jarvis and Charlotte James will be using their expertise as educators to cover:</h3>- The development of the brain &amp; what happens to the brain when a child feels anxious or 'triggered'- Why children may struggle to make sound decisions when in a state of anxiety/anger/worry/frustration- Causes of these big emotions- Masking; the reasons behind a difference in presentation or behaviour between settings (ie, home Vs school)- De-escalation - healthy ways and means- Low arousal approaches; re-framing what we do and say as adults- The lasting effect of these 'episodes' , how to minimise trauma for all involved- Ways to reconnect and recover- When and how to have honest discussions about safety and when to have such discussionsAs always there will be time for questions throughout the presentation.Slides, references and CPD certificates will be available to attendees along with a recording to watch the webinar again for up to 30 days afterwards.

Charlotte has worked with children for over 20 years and is passionate about each child meeting their full potential. She believes that SEN should not be a barrier to progress and that with the right provision and understanding, every individual can thrive.As a qualified teacher, Charlotte has worked with a wide range of age groups but is a specialist in Early Years Education and early child development. Her most recent role was supporting EY settings and schools as a local authority SEN Advisor and she has a wealth of experience in early identification and support.Charlotte feels passionately that we achieve the best outcomes for our children though coproduction. She is experienced in bringing parents, professionals, and settings together to support the needs of the child.Charlotte has a range of experience in delivering training to the sector including to schools, EY settings, parents, and childminders. She has delivered training on a wide range of subjects including Autism on behalf of the Autism Education Trust (AET).In her spare time, Charlotte is studying for a Masters in Psychology and hopes to one day retrain as an Educational Psychologist. To relax, Charlotte enjoys spending time in her garden and baking.

Kelly Jarvis is a Senior SEN Advocate at Sunshine Support, an a highly experienced specialist head teacher.Kelly has a real passion for working with children with SEN.Her interest in SEN and associated complexities inspired her to join the Cambian Group where she was Head of a highly specialist residential school for Autistic children.This allowed Kelly to gain valuable experience in fulfilling EHCPs in order to ensure the best possible outcome. In addition, she has experience creating and designing innovative SEN specialist curriculums that are tailored to the individual and their needs.Highly accomplished and motivated, Kelly has experience training school leaders and advocates in representing their educational establishments at SENDIST tribunals.Kelly has been powerfully advocating for families at Sunshine since 2021, and her impact is far reaching; the success she has seen is absolutely incredible.In her spare time Kelly enjoys playing guitar, hiking in the countryside and writing with the dream of one day publishing a book.
