A discussion and Q&A with IPCC Authors on climate policy and action.

Dinner from 8pm.In early October, global experts will meet in New Delhi as part of a United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) meeting. It will be the second Lead Author Meeting for Working Group III in the 6th assessment cycle of the IPCC. Working Group III focuses on Climate Mitigation and authors will come together to work on assessing global progress toward reducing the rate of climate change. To coincide with the Lead Author Meeting, the Centre for Policy Research (CPR) and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), two leading New Delhi based research organisations, invite you to join them in a discussion on “What are Countries Doing to Address Climate Change?” The discussion will provide an opportunity to hear from experts from all the major regions of the world on climate policy debates and actions. A Q&A after the event will allow guests to submit their own questions to the panel. This event offers the chance to join an open discussion with leading climate experts and directly engage with the IPCC in the midst of an official meeting. It is open to the public and will be followed by an informal dinner where guests will have the opportunity to network with IPCC authors, TERI and CPR researchers and other attendees. The discussion will be chaired by Prof. Navroz K. Dubash (Professor, Centre for Policy Research, and Coordinating Lead Author (Chapter 13) for The Working Group III contribution to the Sixth Assessment Report) and Dr. Ritu Mathur (Senior Fellow, The Energy and Resources Institute, and Lead Author (Chapter 4) for The Working Group III contribution to the Sixth Assessment Report). Professor Jim Skea, Co-chair of Working Group III, will open the event. Panelists include: Karen Seto <aside>Frederick C. Hixon Professor of Geography and Urbanisation Science at Yale University. Coordinating Lead Author (Chapter 8) for The Working Group III contribution to the Sixth Assessment Report.</aside>Karen Seto is one of the world's leading experts on contemporary urbanization and global change. Her research has generated insights on the links between urbanization and land use, food systems, biodiversity, and climate change. Harald Winkler<aside>Professor, Energy Research Centre, University of Cape Town. Coordinating Lead Author (Chapter 4) for The Working Group III contribution to the Sixth Assessment Report. </aside>Harald Winkler is Professor, University of Cape Town, South Africa.Heleen de Coninck <aside>Associate Professor in innovation studies at the Environmental Science department at Radboud University’. Lead Author (Chapter 16) for The Working Group III contribution to the Sixth Assessment Report. </aside>Before joining Radboud University, Heleen de Coninck worked for over 10 years on international energy and climate policy at the Energy research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN). Her main research interests are in international climate policy, energy technology and innovation. She was one of the Coordinating Lead Authors of the IPCC Special Report on limiting warming to 1.5C, which was published in 2018. Fei Teng<aside>Associate Professor at the Institute of Energy, Environment, and Economy, Tsinghua University. Lead Author (Chapter 17) for The Working Group III contribution to the Sixth Assessment Report. </aside>Fei Teng is an associate professor and deputy director of Institute of Energy, Environment and Economy in Tsinghua University. He is also the deputy director of Tsinghua-Berkeley Joint Research Center on Energy and Climate. His research interests include energy and climate policy analysis using modeling tools, and the international climate regime.Roberto Shaeffer<aside>Professor in Energy Economics, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. Coordinating Lead Author (Chapter 3) for The Working Group III contribution to the Sixth Assessment Report. </aside>Dr. Roberto Schaeffer's main area of competence is in integrated assessment of climate change and coupled energy-economy climate modelling. He has published more than 300 scientific papers in the fields of energy and climate change.
