What change do we want to see for the future of food in the Vale of Glamorgan? How can we future-proof our food system so that current and future generations are able to buy, cook, eat, grow and share good food?We’ll be looking at these questions and more in the Our Food Horizons event taking place in Barry Memo Arts Centre on November 23rd. The event is being organised in partnership with Natural Resources Wales and the Vale of Glamorgan Public Services Board (PSB).Responding to calls for public participation, Our Food Horizons invites key stakeholders and members of the public to discuss their priorities for a healthy and sustainable food system in the Vale. The event builds upon a number of other local projects, including the work of Food Vale, the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Climate Challenge Plan Project Zero, the Cardiff and the Vale University Health Board’s Move More Eat Well plan, and the Vale PSB Wellbeing Plan.Findings from the event will form the basis of a new five-year Vale Food Strategy, which will also include a 100-year vision for the food system in the Vale of Glamorgan in an effort to ensure that the needs of future generations are also being considered.Individuals and organisations can continue to co-design the strategy during the consultation period that will run this winter 2023/2024. Barry (0.7 miles) and Barry Docks (0.6 miles) are the nearest stations and they are both a ten minute walk away from us. The last train to Cardiff usually leaves Barry Docks at 23:15 (please check official train times before leaving)By BusBus routes from Cardiff and the surrounding areas are frequent. There is a bus stop within 30m of the venue (Cardiff Bus routes 93, 94B, 96 and 98). There is another bus stop a few minutes away at Barry Civic Offices with additional bus services (Cardiff Bus routes 93, 94, 94B, 95, 96, 96A, 97, 98 and 100)Parking We have our own on-site car park with 130 spaces, including designated Disabled parking bays. There is also on street parking around the venue on Gladstone Road and St Pauls Avenue.Not able to make it?
