Black Mountain (Mynydd Du) Car Park And Picnic Area

Join us on this spectacular hike around a lesser known part of the Black Mountains. We'll start deep in the forest at Mynydd Du car park, head up and follow a wide ridge along to Rhos Dirion which has views all across the Wye Valley. We'll then follow Grwyne Fawr stream down to the epic reservoir where we'll have a chance to explore the only bothy in the Brecon Beacons before heading back to the car park. This is a long mountain day so some experience hiking on hills is required, however we will go nice and slow and take our time to make it more suitable for all. If you are worried about fitness please message me and we can work out if the hike is suitable for you together. Distance: 15kmAscent: 363mTime: 6-7 hoursGrade: Moderate-Challenging (A long mountain day with rocky terrain and sections off-path)Terrain: A mixture of gravel tracks, rocky terrain, sections off path and muddy trailsAbout your guide:Hi I'm Alice, qualified mountain leader and CEO of The Adventure Girls Club. I'm passionate about reconnecting women back nature through adventure and outdoor skills. I set up the club because I didn't feel like I belonged in the outdoor community and I wanted to create a safe space for women like me to head out and enjoy the outdoors in their own way. I love meeting all the lush people who come along to our events and it's best feeling seeing everyone come away feeling more connected to nature and making connections with other like-minded women too. Transport: This walk is only accessible by car. We will meet at Mynydd Du car park here. The car park is free. What to bring:

Hiking boots

Plenty of snacks and a packed lunch

Rucksack

Water (at least 1 litre)

Weather appropriate clothing

Hiking poles (optional)

Personal first aid kit

Toilets:There are no toilets on this hike so you will have to embrace what I like to call a 'wild wee'! There are a few hidden spots en-route which I will point out if anyone needs it, if you need to go, just tell someone in the group and hang back for some privacy.Safety:I like to make these hikes as enjoyable as possible for everyone, so I keep a slow and steady pace. It's about taking in the views and being in nature, not about rushing to the finish line. Having said that, you are responsible for your own health and safety. If you are unsure as to whether you are fit to come on these hikes, please either consult your doctor or let me know your concerns.I am a Qualified Mountain Leader and I am level 3 Outdoor First Aid trained so I will be on hand in case of an emergency.Dogs:Well behaved dogs are more than welcome on my hikes, however, there will be livestock around and potentially other dogs, so they will need to stay on a lead for parts of it. If you can no longer attend you are more than welcome to sell your ticket to someone else but please let me know if you do so.TermsBy signing up to this event you are agreeing to our Terms & ConditionsThis event is for over 18’s only.
