Join Stockport-born artist &amp; architect, Simone Ridyard for a creative workshop focusing on the basic principles of Urban Sketching and perspective drawing through demonstration, top tips, and fun exercises.This two-and-a-half-hour workshop is largely aimed at beginners but is structured in such a way that it will be a refreshing work-out for more experienced sketchers and artists. The workshop is based at Stockport’s unique Hat Museum. If the weather is fine there’s scope to go out into the town and do some “urban sketching” in real time, in amongst Stockport’s historic townscape, from The Plaza cinema to Market Place. This workshop session is perfect for anyone interested in seeing the town afresh, through the captivating medium of urban sketching. For anyone who is interested in architectural illustration, the possibilities of interpreting historic Stockport in a time of change will be unmissable.B﻿ring your own materials if you can - we will have some basic kit to share if you can't bring your own.

A﻿BOUT SIMONEWorkshop leader Simone Ridyard is an experienced architect and senior lecturer in Interior Design at Manchester Metropolitan University. She has an international profile as an architectural illustrator through her work with Urban Sketchers: UrbanSketchers.org Simone set up Urban Sketchers Manchester in 2012 and her research centres on architectural reportage and in-situ drawing. Her workshops specialise in understanding perspective drawing.Simone wrote Archsketcher: Drawing Buildings, Cities and Landscapes (North Light Books 2015. Out of print). She has contributed to many publications on Urban Sketching and has edited two Manchester Sketchbooks, published by Mancunian Books. Simone Ridyard Sketchbook will be published in November 2023. A﻿BOUT WOMEN + ARCHIVESThis event is part of the Women + Archives' Untold Stories workshop series, developed specially for Town of Culture.Women + Archives is a working group of people working across a range of creative practices at Manchester Metropolitan University and Greater Manchester Museums. The group formed at Hat Works Museum in 2022 .
