<p>The Westmill Wind Farm and Solar Park is a pioneering community energy hub, located in Oxfordshire near the Wiltshire border.</p><p>Completed in 2011, Westmill is unique with both wind and solar community-owned electricity generation on one site. In fact, the solar park was the first community-owned of its kind in the UK.</p><p>Here is your chance to come and see how it all works!</p><p>Join our friendly, knowledgeable guides for a on-site tour of Westmill to learn about renewable energy and hear the eventful history of the site. Then, find out about the installation and energy generation of the five turbines and over twenty-thousand solar panels.</p><p>This tour offers a unique, intimate and understandable perspective on how a wind farm and solar park works, with an expert on hand to guide you along the way! </p><p><strong>This event takes place on-site at Westmill</strong>. A maximum of 5 tickets allowed per party please. For larger groups, please request a <a href="https://www.weset.org/visit/site/#bespoke" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">bespoke tour</a>.</p><h3>Before You Visit</h3><ul><li>If you would like to attend one of our public on-site tour days, we ask that you, please, book in advance. This allows us to plan for capacity and guards against turning un-booked visitors away on the day.</li><li>On-site tours normally last between 60 and 90 minutes.</li><li>The tour involves a moderately level walk of around 1.5 to 2 miles.</li><li>Our public on-site tour days are suitable for people of all ages. However, some of the tour content may be too advanced for younger children. We therefore encourage such children to <a href="https://www.weset.org/visit/site/#bespoke" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">visit as part of a school trip</a> – where content will be specifically tailored.</li><li>Please ensure that you know <a href="https://www.weset.org/visit/directions/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">where we are</a> before you make your journey.</li><li>On-site tours are free, although we appreciate donations of any kind to our charity to enable us to continue our work and encourage sustainable energy creation and use. To discuss ways with which to donate, please <a href="https://www.weset.org/contact-us/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">contact us</a>.</li></ul><h3>Essential Information</h3><ul><li><em><strong>Please note that this event is weather-dependent and may be rescheduled, postponed or cancelled if thunderstorms or gale-force winds are forecast, or occur during a tour. If rain is forecast, tours will go ahead.</strong></em></li><li><em><strong>WeSET takes no responsibility for any cost incurred if the visit is cancelled - if adverse weather or other circumstances dictate.</strong></em></li><li><em><strong>All visitors participate at their own risk and each visitor will be responsible for individual safety and appropriate conduct. </strong></em></li></ul><h3>About Us</h3><p>Tours are kindly provided by volunteer guides on behalf of <a href="https://www.weset.org" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">WeSET - Westmill Sustainable Energy Trust</a>.
