Understanding& Working w/ the Education System: Parent Workshop (Secondary)

Manchester Parent Carer Forum (MPCF formerly PACT) is funded by the Department for Education and aims to work in partnership with Manchester City Council, Health and Education settings to shape and influence services, to ensure they are fit for purpose and meet the needs of disabled children, young people and their families living in Manchester.MPCF understands the day to day challenges faced by parent-carers, as we are parent-carers too. The aim of MPCF is to give parent-carers a voice and to make their views heard in the improvement of services for our children.

Manchester Parent Carer Forum

This workshop provides parents with information about the educational and support needs of autistic children and young people.

Moss Side Millenium Powerhouse

This session is aimed at parents/carers of children and young people in Secondary School or Further Education.It will be delivered by a One Education Educational Psychologist in conjunction with SENDIASS and Manchester Parent Carer Forum. This session will include:<ul><li>What are Special Educational Needs (SEN) and how can they be met in school?</li><li>What are schools and Further Education settings required to provide?</li><li>How can you ensure your child’s needs are being met?</li><li>What is available in Manchester to children and families?</li><li>Who can provide advice and support?</li></ul>There will be opportunities for questions and discussion.Biscuits, tea and coffee will be provided. However, lunch isn't covered so please make sure to bring your own food for the lunch break.The group will be held at the Moss Side Millennium Powerhouse: 140 Raby St, Moss Side, Manchester M14 4SLAny queries about this session can be directed to: mft.scppostdiagnosticworkshops@nhs.net
