Background: Digital health (d-Health) tools such as mobile apps, telemedicine tools, remote monitoring, and virtual reality are enthusiastically promoted as a way to personalize and complement mainstream health care and improve population and patient outcomes. d-Health interventions are seen as a promising approach in prevention and treatment of addiction problems, with the potential to simultaneously cater for the population as a whole, high-risk groups, and individuals. Although researchers, developers and entrepreneurs are ready to embrace the opportunities offered by digital technologies in health, especially those targeting desired changes in health behaviour and lifestyles, d-Health is not having the level of real-world impact expected. Participatory co-design and co-development with input from diverse disciplines and stakeholder sectors can be a powerful way to ideate, create, validate and launch d-Health tools that cover real user needs and better fit user expectations and usage habits.Digital Health Multi-Sector Co-Ideation Game Jam Workshop - Wednesday 23 October, 90-minute sessions (repeated twice) 13:20 - 14:50 and 16:50 – 18:20 (Terrace Room, Lisbon Addictions 2019, Futures Zone).We will conduct two 90-minute Game-Jam sessions with 36 participants divided into small multi-profile groups. The guided activity will use an engaging format to give an introduction to the ideation and co-creation of digital health (d-Health) solutions to promote lifestyles changes related to the use of addictive substances and behaviours; in this case, in the population of young adults aged 18-25 years. We propose this specific age group which is typically overlooked in programme planning as they are rarely treated as a distinct population group, despite the evidence that young adulthood is a critical time of life, linking adolescence to fully fledged adulthood. The Game-Jams will use techniques and elements of serious games design and will be conducted by Alexandra Estruch (Game designer specialised in health at CookieBox, Barcelona, http://cookiebox.es/en/). The d-Health ideas created by the groups of participants will be pitched to international d-Health experts in addictions and digital health (Heleen Riper, University of Amsterdam; Matthijs Blankers – Trimbos Institute; and Paul Wallace, University College London; Anna Sort, Playbenefit &amp; Indiehealth) who will judge the competition and award a prize to the solution they consider most innovative and promising. The winners will receive a book prize and all participants will receive a certificate. The Game-Jams are organised as part of the EC co-funded project FuturiZe (http://www.lx-futurize.eu), which is co-producing a strand of the Lisbon Addictions 2019 conference.The 90-minute Game-Jam will be run twice and there is a limit of participants (36 places in each).
