To celebrate International Women's Day, Trilogy are highlighting a few works by women, and some which were created for women to play.

Trilogy Ensemble Music for Flute, Harp and Viola is considered a more unusual format for a chamber music ensemble. Debussy's 1915 Sonata for the combination launched its popularity and showcased the golden timbres and rhythmic fire you can create. Since, composers have loved creating works for the combination. To celebrate International Women's Day on 8 March, Trilogy are highlighting a few works by women, and some which were created for women to play. Join Trilogy in this dreamland of sounds. From Medieval chant of Hildegard von Bingen, to Vivaldi's fiery Baroque trios; Mel Bonis' Romantic forest sound-world; Rebecca Clarke's beautiful settings of British folk-songs and Hilary Tann's musical response to a Celtic poem describing nature. In 2019, supported by the Ryedale Festival, Trilogy made their debut in North Yorkshire. Their repertoire contains well known works, original arrangements and new compositions for flute, harp and viola. Trilogy specialise in performing contemporary music and working closely with composers to create new trio works. In 2020, composer David Lancaster created 'Before I Sleep, the city... again...' (2020), inspired by Lockdown walks in York. Trilogy has performed this piece across the UK. Trilogy enjoy working with student composers and younger audiences, to inspire them to explore this instrumental combination through workshops and performances. In 2024, Trilogy will be working with students of the Sheffield Music Academy. Trilogy actively encourage their audiences to write to the ensemble with their programme wishes in order to create tailor-made concerts. They've especially enjoyed getting to know locals and artists in Buxton with annual visits to the 'Music + Art' series at The Green Man Gallery, and regularly visit their growing community of trio lovers in North Yorkshire. Tickets are £10 in advance or £12 on the door.
