Deptford X Reading Group

Deptford X is a visual arts charity based in Deptford, South East London. We foster artistic talent and nurture community within the borough of Lewisham and beyond. We achieve this through a free biennial festival in Deptford and ongoing activity supporting artists and our local communities throughout the year.Founded in 1998, Deptford X is London’s longest-running visual arts festival. Every two years, we stage a free, ten-day festival, working with hundreds of artists to locate art at the centre of everyday life for all of the area’s communities.

Join Curated artist Kobby Adi to explore and discuss some of the reference material that underpins his Deptford X commission, End in the And. The session will be fascilitated by Hamed Maiye, a multidsciplinary artist and curator based in London and member of Eating At the Same Table (EAST) - an artist-led networking group facilitating, nurturing and supporting emerging artists, writers and curators. Wheelchair accessible.Deptford X is London&#x27;s longest running contemporary visual arts festival. It was launched in 1998 as a free, annual, artist-led festival based in and around Deptford, South East London. Now in its third decade, the festival has reinforced its aim to nurture the creativity on its doorstep through increasing opportunities to take part and presenting challenging and exciting art alongside some of the most creative talent living and working in the area. Deptford X 2019 sees some changes to its structure with a core programme made up of Curated artists chosen by the festival director and Supported artists selected by open call. The festival&#x27;s uniquely unjuried Fringe programme remains and a community-led closing parade - the Parade of Friendly Monsters - is another new addition.
