This is my favourite local walk from my home town and I thought I would share it with you all! Join us for a picture perfect countryside walk from the quaint town of Frome along the mysterious and mossy woodland in Vallis Vale to the beautiful village of Mells and back along rolling countryside fields. There will be the options to finish with a drink or tea in one of the coffee shops or pubs in town. Distance: 16km / 10 milesTime: 5-6 hoursElevation: 250mGrade: Moderate - A long day of hiking but fairly flat.Terrain: Mostly muddy trailsAbout your guide:Hi I'm Alice, qualified mountain leader and CEO of The Adventure Girls Club. I'm passionate about reconnecting women back nature through adventure and outdoor skills. I set up the club because I didn't feel like I belonged in the outdoor community and I wanted to create a safe space for women like me to head out and enjoy the outdoors in their own way. I love meeting all the lush people who come along to our events and it's best feeling seeing everyone come away feeling more connected to nature and making connections with other like-minded women too.Transport:We will meet outside the <a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/EJe6MLNUKSnCadKk8" title="https://maps.app.goo.gl/EJe6MLNUKSnCadKk8" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">River House Cafe</a>.By Car: The best place to park is the Cheese &amp; Grain (or Market place) car park <a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/rXd1ENfacZ6k2hai9" title="https://maps.app.goo.gl/rXd1ENfacZ6k2hai9" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">here</a>. The cafe is right next to the car park.By train/bus: There are regular trains and buses to Frome, it is about a 10 minute walk from the train station and a 2 minute walk from the Bus stop. You will not be allowed to partake in the hike unless you have filled out this form.Toilets:There are toilets at the beginning of the hike but apart from that you will have to embrace what I like to call a 'wild wee'! Luckily, the walk has plenty of hidden spots for this. If you need to go, just tell someone in the group and hang back for some privacy.Safety:I like to make these hikes as enjoyable as possible for everyone, so I keep a slow and steady pace. It's about taking in the views and being in nature, not about rushing to the finish line. Having said that, you are responsible for your own health and safety. If you are unsure as to whether you are fit to come on these hikes, please either consult your doctor or let me know your concerns.I am a Qualified Mountain Leader and I am level 3 Outdoor First Aid trained so I will be on hand in case of an emergency.Dogs:Well behaved dogs are more than welcome on my hikes, however, there will be livestock around and potentially other dogs, so they will need to stay on a lead for parts of it.Refund PolicyRefunds will only be given if the event is cancelled.
