Speaker's Biography:Florencia Pistritto, DPSI, MCIL is an Argentinian interpreter based in West Lothian, Scotland. She specialises in Health and works for the Interpretation and Translation Service of The City of Edinburgh Council since 2017, mostly with primary and secondary schools and Social Services. Florencia is currently working on her dissertation to obtain her master’s degree in Translation Studies.In addition to her work, she is a member of CIOL’s Scottish Society Steering Group and helps organising Continuous Professional Development events for linguists and is one of the moderators of the largest online support group for Osteosarcoma and Ewing’s Sarcoma patients. In the past she was a Campaigns Ambassador for Cancer Research UK and a public speaker for Macmillan, to raise awareness of the importance of the early diagnosis of the disease.A bstract:In this webinar, we will explore Primary bone cancer (PBC), sometimes known as a bone sarcoma, which is often mistaken for secondary bone cancer. Musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions affect over 20 million people in the United Kingdom, that represent one third of the population (NHS England). The talk will cover the following:• Types of primary bone cancer• Treatment• Different surgery options• Chemotherapy and side effects• Most common musculoskeletal conditions• Common orthopaedic procedures
