At AIT our aim is to achieve and maintain protection of title and the regulation of the profession by helping to raise the skill and passion of Interpreters and Translators. The talk from Anne Lee, Dutch-English translator, Dutch & Flemish public service interpreter and a conference interpreter.

Our guest speaker Anne Lee has an MA in Political Sciences (from Leuven University), read European Studies in Hull and worked for the Belgian Trade Office in Edinburgh. After a career in the private sector, she became a freelance Dutch-English translator in 2002. She is one of the four Dutch &amp; Flemish public service interpreters in the NRPSI, and a conference interpreter. Her twenty years of translation work encompass eighteenth century ship’s logs, numerous academic publications, hundreds of police investigation reports and so much more. She is a member of the CIOL and AIT. In a parallel life, Anne has been an elected councillor for seven years, and particularly interested in environmental issues.This talk will touch on:- How do you get established as a linguist? - How can you optimise your work and income with tools and good habits, and become the best linguist you can be? In this fast-changing industry, every freelancer’s experience is unique. With twenty years of translation and interpreting work under my belt, I have made a list of all the things that I wish I had known from the start and would like to share this knowledge with my colleagues.
