Workshop 1 - Storytelling & storyboarding [Evening Session]

Established in 2010, the Colourful Heritage initiative aims to ‘Capture’ the story, ‘Celebrate’ the achievements and ‘Inspire’ present & future generations using the heritage of the South Asians and Muslims to Scotland. It consists of the UK’s largest online oral video history collection. In 2017 working in collaboration with Glasgow Museums, the GlaswegAsians exhibition was launched which includes a specific focus on the role of the British Indian Army and its contribution to WW1 & WW2.

WORKSHOP 1 - STORYTELLING, STORYBOARDING & SHOOTING VIDEO

WORKSHOPS FOR UNDER 25sDuration: 2.5 hour The workshop will emphasise the importance of storytelling while making films and videos. An emphasis will be placed on sharing good examples of films that have been shot on smartphones or low budget as well as films that reflect the themes of this overall programme. Theme focus:British Indian ArmyOverall aim: teach the participants tips and tricks on how to film and tell your story visually In all workshops, core practical tips on filming with smartphones (as well as other recording devices) will be discussed such as framing, stabilisation, etc. This workshop’s ultimate goal will be for all participants to be able to walk out with a video they have filmed and edited perhaps over a track of music all within their smartphone. These mostly will be focused on action filming and “b-roll” versus interviews or to-camera presentations.Topics and Activities in this workshop include: -Filming on your Smartphone - general tips-Visual storytelling - sharing examples &amp; tips for telling a story visually-Storyboard exercise - drawing out ideas on paper before filming-In-phone editing &amp; soundtrack Location: Islamic Relief OfficesFREE WORKSHOP - REGISTRATION REQUIREDWORKSHOPS FOR UNDER 25s
