Join Shoresearch Cornwall, Your Shore and local expert Matt Slater for a day of seaweed exploration.Cornwall Wildlife Trust are hosting a seaweed identification day focused on the species that can be found commonly by rockpoolers and snorkelers around our coastlines.Come and expand your species ID of some of the 500 species of seaweed that can be found in the intertidal and shallow waters around the UK. This introduction workshop will be detailing how to identify common, and often similarly confusing, species of seaweeds that live within intertidal rockpools and shallow waters of Cornwall! Once you know how to ID your Pepper Dulse from your Bunny’s ears, we'll get hands on and have a look at samples from the shore.The day will consist of a morning theory session followed by an afternoon exploring the shoreline and conducting a Shoresearch Walkover survey.This event is FREE for volunteers living in the following postcodes: PL23 / PL24 / PL25 / PL26 and PL30 (south of the A30 only)...as well as marine group members from Friends of Fowey Estuary, Friends of Par Beach and Three Bays Wildlife Group** We will be asking for confirmation of local group membership and/or address.The workshop will take place at:Porthpean Sailing ClubPorthpean Beach RoadSt AustellPL26 6AXThere is parking available at Porthpean Beach car park.Further details will be given once booked closer to the event date.Any questions please do email katie.bellman@cornwallwildlifetrust.org.uk This event is part of the Your Shore Network in association with Shoresearch and Seasearch Cornwall.
