<h3>Suicide is frighteningly common in autistic people: around 1 in 3 will experience suicidal thoughts in their lifetime, and 1 in 4 will act on their suicidal thoughts.</h3><p><br></p><h3>Drawing on lived experience and a body of scientific research, Dr Rachel Moseley (Principal Academic in Psychology, Bournemouth University) will explore:</h3><p><br></p><ul><li>How common is suicide in autistic people?<br></li></ul><ul><li>Why are autistic people at such risk of suicide?<br></li></ul><ul><li>Among the autistic community, who is especially vulnerable to suicide?<br></li></ul><ul><li>What do suicidal thoughts and behaviours look like in autistic people; what are the 'red flags'?<br></li></ul><ul><li>How do we change this narrative and prevent suicide in autistic people?</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong><strong>Slides, references and CPD certificates will be available to attendees along with a recording to watch again for up to 30 days afterwards.</strong></strong></p>

<h3>Dr Rachel Moseley completed her PhD in cognitive neuroscience at Cambridge University and is now a Principle Academic at Bournemouth University.</h3><p><br></p><h3>Rachel's researched is centred on autism and the challenges autistic people face during adulthood. One particular area of study is the issues around late-diagnosis, the burden of camouflaging and stigma, aging, and lifespan transition points such as menopause.</h3><p><br></p><h3>Rachel has a passion for increasing the acceptance of neurodivergent minds through public engagement, and improving life for autistic people through my consultancy work and engagement with policy-makers.</h3>
