In the footsteps of Force K6

Established in 2010, the Colourful Heritage initiative aims to ‘Capture’ the story, ‘Celebrate’ the achievements and ‘Inspire’ present & future generations using the heritage of the South Asians and Muslims to Scotland. It consists of the UK’s largest online oral video history collection. In 2017 working in collaboration with Glasgow Museums, the GlaswegAsians exhibition was launched which includes a specific focus on the role of the British Indian Army and its contribution to WW1 & WW2.

Boots &amp; Beards and Colourful Heritage invite you to join us for a themed hill walk titled - &quot;In the Footsteps of Force K6&quot;.Force K6 is a regiment of the British Indian Army that was stationed in the Highlands of Scotland during WW2. Join the themed walk around Glenmore Lodge, Aviemore, to enjoy some fresh air and to learn about this fascinating history. Lunch and transport will be provided. Programme:9am - Meetup outside Soulriders 4 Forth Street, G41 2SS (outside Strawberry Garden).9.30am - Bus Departure 12 noon - Arrival at Kingussie Cemetery 12.30pm - Leave Kingussie Cemetery for Glenmore Lodge 1pm - Arrive at Glenmore Lodge for Lunch &amp; Prayers2pm - Presentation by Hamish Johnston, local Force K6 expert historian2.30 pm - Walk with Boots &amp; Beards (optional &amp; weather dependent)4pm - Back to Glenmore Lodge4.30pm - Depart Glenmore Lodge6.30 - 7pm - arrive back GlasgowEquipment required: Stout footwear, outdoor protective clothing, hats and gloves. Booking required
