Welcome to Hay Free Radio - an independent digital radio station officially  launched in May 2023.  Find us on MixCloud by searching for Hay_Free_RadioHay Free Radio is atruly independent digital radio station- meaning that we can play great music at all times without being dictated to by sponsors or what's in the charts etc. We aim to bring a diverse mix of people together via live events, promoting local musicians performing live as well as DJ sets.We are hosting a number of live events throughout 2024 and 2025.

Craft Fair

In response to the current stark inequality of representation of creative women within the Art World, the Flaming Lady has a mission to particularly champion female artists. The multi-tiered impactful gallery and art shop presents exciting, predominantly female artists' work across the mediums.  Established in 2018 and inspired by eccentric genius Richard Booth, the self-proclaimed King of Hay, the Kingdom Project creates Art for Change and is curated by some of most respected names in music and the arts.

Working out of a tiny Art House in Hay-On-Wye – the ‘Flaming Lady Of Hay’ – the Kingdom Project is founded and produced by a core group of Hay based arts and event professionals who believe that high calibre, diverse arts should be accessible to everyone.

Ami Cadillac - The Flaming Lady of Hay / Kingdom Projects

Imogen Abbot, (Street Pastor at Vennture) will be talking about what Vennture and their street based projects do, and how they have developed in order to not only protect people, but also be a reassuring presence for the community. She will draw on some real scenarios that they have dealt with on the streets, giving examples of why they do what they do.  'We all get into a mess in some form during our lives, and we often had someone to help, we aim to provide that help where we can and come alongside people to help them through it. No judgment, just care. We want people to have a good time, and come home safe' Imogen Abbot.   ***PLEASE NOTE - This talk is not appropriate for under 15 year olds due to the nature of the subject matter.

Vennture's Street Presence Projects; 'Have a Good Time, Come Home Safe'

Ask for Angela; 'Helping People Feeling Vulnerable on a Night Out'

A talk about how movement & embodiment help to settle the score with Veronika Pena de la Jara.  Veronika has been a yoga teacher for 25 years. She is a yoga teacher trainer and specialises in many areas of yoga: Early years, pregnancy, mother and child, children, teen and adult yoga.

She first came across yoga when she  was working in Thailand as a dive master. It was a stressful job, dive guiding and being responsible for the lives of up to 10 people underwater.  When a yoga teacher appeared on the island, she went along not knowing what to expect as she had never done yoga before. Within the first 10 days of practising, she knew that yoga would become part of her life. Little did she know then that she would make it such a huge part of her life and her whole career.

She returned from travelling and trained to be a yoga teacher with the British School of Yoga in 1999. And then went on to do further training in other related areas like Thai Chi and meditation.

Maggie Rivron, local facilitator from Rites for Girls CIC, will talk about how so many girls feel like they’re not good enough?   Did you enter your teens feeling like there was someone you could talk to about everything that was changing inside you?  Did you have a group of friends who you felt safe to be yourself with because they accepted you just as you were?  Girls Journeying Together groups are for 10 – 12 year-old girls (Years 6 and 7) to take a journey of curiosity about what lies ahead in their teens and beyond.  Facilitated by a mentor, they meet monthly to discuss the ups and downs of adolescence, the changes to their bodies and emotions, navigating challenges, social pressures and social media, looking towards womanhood with a healthy sense of self.  Girls are growing up in a world where there’s so much pressure to be popular, pretty, and perfect.  You can change that,  you can make their world better. Maggie is going to talk about how.
