Established in April 2018, the Trauma Informed Plymouth Network has developed as an innovative response to the emerging evidence regarding childhood adversity and the impact of trauma on people, communities and those delivering services. The Trauma Informed Plymouth Network is a collaborative, community network of over 900 people from the statutory, voluntary and community sectors alongside people with Lived Experience with an ambition to envision Plymouth as a trauma-informed city and bring about system-wide change. To date, we have delivered training on trauma-informed & shame-sensitive practice to over 3,000 members of the Plymouth workforce & beyond.

Vicky Brooks is the network coordinator for the Trauma Informed Plymouth Network. Vicky worked in drug and alcohol services for 16 years working with people who have experienced profound and complex trauma; initially within the criminal justice system and for the past 10 years, in the child protection and safeguarding arena working with parents. She has an extensive background in delivering training & facilitating groups.

Vicky has been working closely with the Catholic Diocese Safeguarding Team & connecting with parish safeguarding representatives from across Devon. She would welcome the opportunity to connect with church leaders across Plymouth in our united aspiration to become a trauma-informed city.

This Re:Sourced Event will inform about this cultural shift occuring in our city, it will explore how trauma shows up in people, the key themes to the Trauma Informed Approach.

It will show how our Christian values compliment this approach and further inform our practices when dealing with people.
