PLEASE NOTE - THIS EVENT WILL NOW OCCUR ON FEBRUARY 28TH DUE TO THE UCU STRIKE SCHEDULED FOR EARLIER IN THE WEEK The workshop consists of a series of talks exploring how we can improve the quality of the research we carry out through the adoption of open and reproducible research practices. This is an opportunity to meet and learn from fellow researchers from universities belonging to the North West Open Research Hub. The topics of the talks include: <ul><li>Introductions to the <a href="https://www.bristol.ac.uk/psychology/research/ukrn/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">UK Reproducibility Network</a> and the <a href="https://software.ac.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Software Sustainability Institute</a></li><li>Experiences that early career researchers have had with engaging in open research practices and building communities</li><li>The importance of research software engineering in reproducible research</li><li>Exploring whether the current academic system effectively rewards bad research practices</li><li>Experiences with setting research policy at national and international levels</li><li>And a keynote talk from Professor Dorothy Bishop FRS from the University of Oxford on “Four cognitive biases that make it hard to do science well - and how to overcome them”. </li></ul>The talks will be followed at 17:30 by a reception for all attendees. This event is open to everyone with early career researchers being particularly welcome!
