Includes free lunch from Big River BakeryWeek 1 - 6th and 9th MarchIntroduction to Screen PrintingTutor: Niall GreavesThis class will give you a basic introduction into this form of printmaking and allow you to start your screen-printingjourney. You’ll be shown how to print onto paper using water-based inks with a vacuum table and also with simpleclamps. We will cover how to turn your drawings and mark making into a screen print, technique, preparing andcleaning a screen as well as an overview of how you can progress further in this field of hand printmaking. Eachparticipant will leave with a small edition of prints.Week 2 13th and 16th MarchIntroduction to Risograph PrintingTutor: George StewartRiso printing is commonly used for making prints, comics, zines, posters and flyers. The riso printer looks a bit like aphotocopier and uses rice paper stencils and drums of soy based ink to create mono-coloured layers, similar to screenprinting. It is vibrant, distinctive and has lots of room for experimentation. In this workshop you will build multi-layeredprints from drawings , collage and mark making. Each participant will leave with a selection of prints.Week 3 20th / 23rd MarchPrinting with Light: Introduction to CyanotypeTutor: George StewartCyanotype is a creative, simple and flexible photographic print process that produces a characteristic and beautiful blueimage when coated sensitised paper is exposed to light. In this workshop you will learn how to measure and mix chemicalsand coat paper, experiment making cyanotypes with objects and photographs and how you can continue this practice athome. Each participant will leave with a selection of prints.Week 4 27th and 30th MarchIntroduction to Intaglio and ReliefTutor: Niall GreavesIn this workshop we will explore two forms of hand printing using our etching press.Intaglio printing has exciting results obtained from easy to prepare plates with no chemicals. Marks are incised onto adrypoint plastic plate with a variety of tools which create a wide range of textures and tone within the resulting printedimageWe will look at relief printing through lino block printing, composing your design to cutting and printing your own block.Using simple techniques for striking results, this workshop gives you all the skills you need for tabletop linocut printmaking.Each participant will leave with an edition of prints.
