We will look at some of the National Gallery's remarkable collection of paintings by Sienese artists

The National Gallery

Our detailed investigation of the National Gallery's collection will continue with work painted by Sienese artists in the Fifteenth Century. Our main focus will be on the wonderful series of seven painting which Sassetta made for the High Altar of the Church of San Francesco in Sansepolcro, but we will also look at the surprising and idiosyncratic Giovanni di Paolo, before seeing how the Sienese alligned themselves - in some ways - with contemproary developments in Florentine art.As ever, the numbers attending will be strictly limited - eleven people per group - to allow for greater access to the paintings, and the chance of conversation.I will email an exact meeting point nearer to the time - so please contact me if you don't hear!
