Climate Justice PhD Seminar: Climate Migration in Nigeria

The poorest and most vulnerable people in society are bearing the biggest burden of climate change, but they are the people least likely to have contributed to the human causes of climate change and are less likely to be able to adapt to its impacts.At the Centre for Climate Justice we take a global lead in the delivery of action research which will improve policy, development and critical insights into climate justice. Our aim is to deliver pragmatic and lasting solutions which improve the wellbeing of society, enhance people’s rights and promote a climate-just world.

Join us to hear about new climate justice research on climate migration and internal displacement in Nigeria

Climate-induced migration and displacement is growing as change change causes more and more extreme weather, and harsh environments that force people to move. This PhD seminar will hear from two Climate Justice PhD candidates studying the impact of climate change on migration and displacement in Nigeria: <ul><li>Maryam Othman, PhD candidate, will discuss their research on climate migration and resilience of Fulani herders in Nigeria</li><li>Ukegbu Uwa Kalu, PhD candidate, will discuss their research on climate justice and internal displacement in Nigeria</li></ul> This event will take place in-person on Glasgow Caledonian University's campus in the Centre for Executive Education (CEEE) in Room CEE2 at 1pm on Wednesday 22nd March.
