In this presentation, we will journey into the realm of cross-cultural theatre, exploring its dynamic role in the theatrical landscape. We'll delve into the benefits and challenges posed by the dominant forms of cross-cultural theatre today. Additionally, we'll explore innovative approaches that foster cultural collaboration rather than cultural appropriation. Central to our discussion is the concept of "Border Thinking," a mode of thought that invites us to take a flexible and dynamic approach to identity and knowledge. Instead of rigid boundaries, Border Thinking embraces the fluidity and complexity of cultural and individual identities, recognizing the influence of multiple perspectives. Navigating this rich terrain, we will discover the potential of Border Thinking in shaping a more inclusive and vibrant cross-cultural theatrical landscape. Mohab Kaddah is a London-based Egyptian artist with a background in musical theatre and music performance. Since 2017, he has worked professionally in Cairo's theatre scene, performing in Arabic and English musicals and concerts as a guitarist and singer. In 2023, he relocated to London to pursue a MA in Music Theatre at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. With a passion for acting and storytelling, he aspires to build a successful career in the vibrant theatre scene of London, blending his cultural heritage with new artistic experiences.
