We're thrilled to welcome talented local artists from the vibrant music scene of Birmingham, alongside our special guests Manara and re:ni. Dive deep into music industry insights as they share their journeys, offering invaluable guidance and advice on navigating the ever-evolving music industry. Since 2015, Saffron and it’s sister program Mix Nights have delivered courses, workshops, mentoring, an online members club as well as operating as a record label and artist development program.Open to women, trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming people, Saffron &amp; Mix Nights offer beginner-level courses in DJing, music production &amp; sound engineering. These short courses are fun, safe and creative spaces and are often people’s first experiences within music/tech.As well as providing safe spaces to learn a key focus of our work is to build long lasting communities that allow our participants to form meaningful connections and create supportive and collaborative networks. The aim of this event is to help build on our existing Birmingham community through a free interactive and educational event.

<h3>Mix Nights DJ Workshops Info + Sign Up</h3>The morning DJ workshops have very limited places and are sign up only, please read this section carefully. Both workshops are only open to those who identify as women, non binary, trans and gender non conforming. The public event that starts at 1pm is open to all genders. Mix Nights - Introduction to DJing Workshop (10:00am - 11:30am)This workshop is designed for those who have no prior experience of DJing. <h3>Panels + Guest Speakers</h3> <h3>Community Clinic (13:30 - 14:30) Open Q+A with...</h3><h3>Manara</h3>A well-versed DJ who doesn’t believe in guilty pleasures, Manara has become legendary on underground club circuits across the world for her uninhibited blend of deep club cuts, pop divas, garage and Bollywood samples. Following her now iconic Boiler Room appearance in 2017, she has brought her sound to everywhere from Berghain to Tokyo and Glastonbury. Manara’s sets and weekly radio show on BBC Asian Network mix culture across continents with one goal: fun.As The Guardian put it when they included Manara in their article on 30 bands and artists to see live before you die: ‘her sets involve the kind of methodical stimulation of pleasure neurohormones normally conducted in a medical research facility’. Facts. And with Manara’s notoriety for fun club edits and daring live blends that continue to set dance floors and airwaves ablaze, it’s no surprise she’s inspired so many others. <h3>Music Production : In converstaion with...</h3><h3>re:ni</h3>re:ni is the alias of Birmingham born, Dorset raised and curently South London based DJ Lauren Bush. Growing up listening to drum &amp; bass and dubstep, re:ni's sets join the dots between her dub-wise influences and contemporary bass-driven techno, electro, jungle and breaks. With shows at institutions like Panorama Bar, De School, Robert Johnson and fabric, she brings a UK sensibility to the dancefloor, bouncing across bpms with a record bag stacked full of deep basslines and broken rhythms.re:ni has announced a new EP, ‘BeautySick’, via Batu's label Timedance for its first record of the year—and its first-ever release by a woman. She lands here after an impressive debut on Ilian Tape and cofounding the radio show and London party re:lax with fellow leftfield club producer Laksa. re:ni has been paving the way for women producers in the still male-dominated areas of bass-heavy club music, combining dubby vibrations, broken beats and leftfield techno that seems tailored for forward-thinking labels like Timedance, all while staying true to her own junglist origins.
