This Venture Building Workshop will provide you with lessons and insights to start your business venture. If you have an idea or like the thought of founding and running your own business, then the time to start is now. Vincent will discuss his beginnings as ‘entrepreneur’ and how ideas/opportunities presented themselves. This will be followed by a talk on the origins of some business beginnings, the idea behind them with examples, and some tips on idea generation and quick feedback loops. The importance of unconscious networks and the social capital we don’t know we have will be an important theme addressed throughout this interactive workshop, which will include a fireside chat with Mike and a Q&A session. The workshop will end with an informal social mixer component, including refreshments, to help develop your networks.

Vincent Gibson is a creative Innovator, strategist and leader with expertise in lean startup entrepreneurialism. A founder, co-founder and CEO across multiple US- and UK-based start-ups, Vincent employs decisive creative thinking to uncover and nurture obscured opportunities. A 20 year history as a leader and product builder with a significant record of multi-market leadership, launching and growing unique disruptive startup enterprises. Vincent’s journey and experience provides valuable insights into the global startup sector and the entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Mike Octigan is co-founder of Gecko (An Umbraco Design & Build Agency). He is also co-chair of BIMA North West, driving innovation and excellence across the digital industry. Mike says ‘Gecko was born way back when the media was “New”, with only two browsers, one device, and corporate comms lived on a CD-ROM (ask Chat GPT)’. In 23 years he has worked with amazing clients from start-ups to global brands, across 20 industries located in the UK, North America, France, Dubai, and Australia. Mike is a Manchester United fan actually from Manchester, and insists this information is added to any bio.
