SMR Lightweight Rigging 11/12 May 2024

Scottish Mountain Rescue (SMR) represents25 Mountain Rescue Teams(MRTs) made up of highly trained volunteers who are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to respond to emergencies and carry out a specialist search and rescue service in the mountains and remote communities in Scotland to keep people safe and help people if and when they get into difficulty.

<h4>The course</h4>A one-day course held in the Sma' Glen area of Perthshire.Light weight rigging is a brand-new course looking to explore the use of modern light weight equipment such as Tiblocs, Roll clips, Micro Traxions and energy absorbers.The aim of the course is to explore the use, and limitations of 9mm rope when used with both standard climbing equipment and more specialised hauling set ups. Light weight rigging is not intended to replace traditional rigging, simply provide experiences riggers with new options.The course will put into context where going light weight is suitable, but more importantly help to understand the type of terrain where these techniques may not be appropriate. <h4>What to bring</h4><ul><li>Harness</li><li>Helmet</li><li>Personal PPE for a day on the hill</li><li>Lunch, snacks and drinks for the day</li></ul>All technical rigging equipment will be provided.

<h4>Accommodation</h4>Accommodation will be provided for the Saturday night on a B&B basis at the <a href="https://www.ihg.com/holidayinnexpress/hotels/gb/en/perth/ptldu/hoteldetail" title="https://www.ihg.com/holidayinnexpress/hotels/gb/en/perth/ptldu/hoteldetail" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Holiday Inn Express</a> in Perth on a shared basis. The venue for the course will be the Sma' Glen area, which is about a half hour's drive from Perth.

<h4>THE SMALL PRINT!</h4> Cancellation PolicySMR reserves the right to charge a cancellation fee of £100 if failure to turn up to this course or a cancellation too late in which we cannot fill your space. This fee allows us to offset any costs which we will be incurred as a result of late cancellation. SMR Office will invoice directly to your Mountain Rescue team.

SMR believe that using your data in this manner is a legitimate interest.You have the right to see any information about you that SMR keep and you also have the right for this information to be deleted at any time. Send an email to info@scottishmountainrescue.org clearly stating you wish SMR to delete your details and we will do so within 10 working days.SMR will send you a feedback form shortly after the event and we are grateful for any feedback. Your feedback will be anonymised for the purposes of statistics and review of the training we deliver.Photographs may be taken at the event and may be used in publications or social media related to Scottish Mountain Rescue. We will seek consent prior to using photographs with recognisable faces. Where individuals are not facially recognisable we will use photographs without seeking consent.We will delete personally identifiable information collected in each financial year on April 1st each year for the financial year that commenced 4 years previously. For example in April 2023 we will delete all personally identifiable information collected in financial year 2019/20 and continue this process on a rolling annual basis.
