Stories by survivors - how is new media changing the narrative around sexual violence and trauma?

With so many people affected by sexual violence, Clear Lines was born out of the need to create an open, honest, and inclusive conversation, using the arts and discussion to replace the shame and silence with insight, understanding, and community.

<A HREF="http://clearlines.org.uk/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Clear Lines </A>is an organisation born out of the need to create an open, honest, and inclusive conversation around sexual assault and consent, using the arts and discussion to replace shame and silence with insight, understanding, and community. On Wednesday 5th February, Clear Lines is bringing the conversation to the House of St Barnabas in Soho to explore how people with lived experience are using podcasts, blogs and other forms of new media to change the narrative around sexual assault and trauma.
Meet the speakers: 
Allysa Rochelle  - Creator and host of <A HREF="https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/vulnerable-podcast/id1244426082" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Vulnerable Podcast</A>
Allysa Rochelle was raised in a religious cult and was sexually abused consistently as a child. She left the cult at 16 and spent years unable to have a healthy relationship with herself which of course led to many emotionally abusive relationships.  After starting therapy and taking a deep dive into personal development, Allysa Rochelle is now motivated to share her story with as many people that will lesson. She is the creator and host of Vulnerable Podcast which has over 50k streams and downloads. 
Catriona Morton - Creator and host of BBC Sounds podcast<A HREF="https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p07fzbg8" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> ‘After’</A>
Catriona Morton is the creator and host of the new BBC Sounds podcast 'After', founder of the website 'Life Continues After', writer and  consent workshop facilitator. She advocates for survivor-centred approaches with a main focus on all the different ways we've each learnt to cope. 
Lucy Hall - Curator of <A HREF="https://vimeo.com/274094733" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Sunlight Project</A>
The Sunlight Project is a multimedia exhibition celebrating survivors of sexual assault, curated by Lucy Hall following her own experience of rape. The exhibition places the focus of on survivors of sexual assault with stories “by survivors, not about them”, with eight contributing artists including Lucy herself. She made the decision to take this route after realising that most of the media conversation around sexual assault focuses on the perpetrator, and gives little consideration to what comes after the event. Lucy is also a writer on the issue with contributions to a number of online platforms including The Guardian and Huffington Post.
The event will begin at 6.30pm in the form of a panel discussion followed by audience Q&A and a chance to chat with our community of survivors, activities and allies. We hope to see you there!
