Calling all Londoners: take part in the world’s first Mend in Public Day for Fashion Revolution Week 2024!

For Mend in Public Day, join Tessa in this creative and practical workshop to extend the life of your trainers with visible mending.Rips and holes in the fabric areas of your trainers no longer means they are destined for landfill. With the right tools, you can extend their life for another 12-18 months of wear!In this workshop, Tessa will guide you through hand sewing techniques to repair and embellish your footwear so you can walk away with fresh kicks.Please bring along your fabric, flyknit or woven trainer(s) to the workshop. All repair materials will be provided. All levels welcome! About Tessa the DresserTessa the Dresser is a business passionate about visible mending to repair, re-story, re-love and reduce waste. Tessa Solomons AKA Tessathedresser uses hand embroidery and darning techniques to add colour, personality and humour to embellish and repair loved garments and textiles.Tessa is part of a growing movement of creative professionals challenging a culture of over consumption, over production and throw-away trends in the fashion industry, focusing her attention on the role of re-use and repair to support extending the life of clothes and working towards a circular fashion system.Tessa works with a number of brands and community groups to run workshops and repair events and has been featured in local and national press about the culture and importance of care and repair.Location: Islington Climate Centre, Angel Central, 21 Parkfield St, London N1 0PS
