Barnardo's East End: Poverty and Philanthropy in 19th Century London

Religious historian, W. M. Jacob, opens our lecture series with a talk on Barnardo, poverty and the Evangelical faith that motivated him.

The talk will start at 7pm on the 2nd floor and last for an hour with time for questions.You are invited to enjoy our canal-side café and look round the Museum before the talk starts. The Museum has step-free access and a lift. Bill Jacob has published several books and numerous articles about the social history of religion in England and Wales in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. His most recent book is Religious Vitality in Victorian London, (Oxford University Press, 2021). £5 Adults - £2.50 Concessions (over 65s and students) We are grateful to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for their generous support of this lecture series.
