This university is a free, public institution that welcomes 25% of students from African countries who have Portuguese as their national language. Most Brazilian students are black, but there are also indigenous, quilombola and Romani students. This multicultural context could be considered a robust environment for producing anti-racist knowledge. However, students still face discrimination and violence daily due to the strong presence of coloniality in Brazilian higher education. This paper will present the experiences of indigenous, quilombola, black and African students about colonial violence and acts of decolonial resistance at the University of the International Integration of Afro-Brazilian Lusophony.
