Tour of Counter Press

Bow Arts is an arts education charity that provides affordable creative workspaces for over 500 emerging artists. Alongside this, Bow Arts manages one of the country's most exciting education programmes, which takes world-class artists into 90 schools to improve the lives and learning of children and young people. Bow Arts runs the Nunnery Gallery, a public gallery that supports a diverse range of high-quality exhibitions and events as well as the delivery of a public arts programme. Established in 1995, Bow Arts holds an important place in east London which is fast becoming known as London’s Artist Quarter.

Nunnery Gallery

The Counter Press is a typographic design studio and letterpress workshop based in nearby Bow Arts P1 studios, five minutes’ walk from the gallery. A rare chance to see behind the scenes of a small working letterpress and to learn about the different presses. Visitors may also have the opportunity to have a go at printing!Booking is recommended for this free event as space is limited. Meet in the Nunnery Gallery, from which the Counter Press studio is a short five minute walk down Bow Road.This event is part of the Lightboxes &amp; Lettering event programme, which celebrates the fascinating and important history of east London's print industry, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.Access InformationP1 studios has step-free access throughout from street level, including to the accessible toilet, and is service animal friendly. This venue does not have a hearing loop system.
