About us Snow Peak broke into the outdoor lifestyle scene in 1958 when founder Yukio Yamai, an accomplished mountaineer, created his own line of superior climbing gear out of discontent for the current products on the market. A family business since inception, new generations of the Yamai family have brought their own enthusiasm for the outdoors to Snow Peak’s product line. Yamai&#x27;s son, Tohru Yamai, created a line of camping products in the 1980s, which are still hugely popular throughout Japan and designed to bring the indoors, outdoors. In 2014 Yukio&#x27;s granddaughter, Lisa Yamai, launched Snow Peak Apparel which is functional, considered, technical outdoor clothing made from innovative Japanese fabrics.
