Here you will find all our volunteering events for young people aged 16-25

Are you aged 16-25 and want to make a difference for nature and the environment?Join us in the South Downs National Park for an action day to #HelpTheHeaths. This is your chance to help and learn about one of the rarest habitats in the world, heathland!Our rangers need your help clearing young birch trees from heathland, a habitat rarer than rainforest. We will be pulling and lopping vegetation to protect the heather from dying out. We we also be learning how to build a <a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/natureuk/entries/f549f921-fe05-406a-8ba8-49d6911b51f7" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">MyNaturewatch</a> wildlife camera from recycled household materials and a few simple electronic components. We&#x27;ll then use these cameras to monitor wildlife on the heath. A full plan of activities will be sent after registering.What you&#x27;ll need: <ul><li>Drinking water (lunch is provided)</li><li>A passion for the environment! </li></ul>What to wear:<ul><li>Sturdy footwear (wellies or walking boots are great!)</li><li>Trousers and long-sleeve tops to protect your arms and legs from the elements</li><li>Waterproof coat</li><li>Backpack to carry water , snacks and any other things you need</li></ul>Where to meet: You have two choices!<ul><li>10:00am: Lift from Pulborough train station in a South Downs National Park vehicle. </li><li>10:15am: Meet at the entrance to RSPB Pulborough Brooks visitor centre. </li></ul>Public transport: By Train: The nearest station is Pulborough, which is 4 km (2 miles) from the visitor centre. Join us on a walk from the station to the visitor centre, which should take between 30-40 minutes. Alternatively register for a lift from the station via the option above. By bus: <a href="https://www.compass-travel.co.uk/compass-timetables/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Compass Bus 100</a>, from Burgess Hill to Horsham, stops at Pulborough train station and serves the stop immediately outside the nature.
