<h2>Join our advocates for the day as they guide you through the EHCP application process. They will explain the key legislation relating to the EHC needs assessment process, so you understand the legal test and the information you need to evidence in your parental request letter.</h2><h2><br></h2><h2>The day includes both training and a practical opportunity to make a start on your letter alongside our advocates who will be on hand to answer your questions.</h2><h2><br></h2><h2>Our expert advocates will train you in all you need to know to get that application written and underway with your local authority, all in the comfort of our wonderful Sunshine Community Hub in Derby.</h2><h3><br></h3><h2>(The letters will be checked on the day IF they're complete and IF time allows. Anything requested of the advocates after the event will need to go through our advocacy service. Please see below what is included on the day)</h2><h3><br></h3><h2><br></h2><h3>We will cover:</h3><ul><li>The law surrounding EHCPs and the 'legal test' for gaining as assessment for an EHCP</li></ul><ul><li>The legal process (step-by-step of the 20-week process) of the application and assessment for an EHCP</li></ul><ul><li>What to expect from the assessment process</li></ul><ul><li>Your legal right of appeal, and what this means (and what stages it is triggered)</li></ul><ul><li>Mediation; the pros and cons</li></ul><ul><li>EHCP contents - how to ensure the content is fit for purpose</li></ul><p><br></p><h3>Then we will get to work on the exciting part... WRITING YOUR APPLICATION.</h3><h3>****** LUNCH IS INCLUDED *****</h3><h3>You will need to bring:</h3><ul><li>All of your evidence (in chronological order preferably, for ease)</li></ul><ul><li>A laptop or electronic device to write the letter (please make sure it's charged up, so we're good to go!)</li></ul><h3>What you can expect from us:</h3><ul><li>An introduction to the law surrounding EHCPs and the SEND Code of Practice</li></ul><ul><li>Assistance in writing your request for an EHC needs assessment</li></ul><ul><li>An information pack to take away with the slides from our presentation</li></ul><ul><li>Refreshments, snacks and lunch</li></ul><ul><li>A warm sunshine welcome</li></ul><h3>If we feel you do not have enough evidence to request the EHC needs assessment at this stage, don't worry, we will advise you of next steps and help develop a draft request with you in preparation for when your evidence IS ready.</h3><h3><br></h3><h3>PLEASE NOTE: 1 TICKET PER ADULT.</h3>

YOUR APPLICATION- The letters will be checked on the day IF they're complete and IF time allows. Anything requested of the advocates after the event will need to go through our advocacy service.</h3><h3>2. THIS IS AN IN-PERSON EVENT ONLY</h3><h3>3. LOCATION - This event takes place at our Sunshine Community Hub in Derby. It will not take place online due to the interactive nature of the event, and for GDPR purposes. Our Community Hub is spacious and airy, and has plenty of different seating options to ensure you feel comfortable.</h3><h3>4. FOOD AND REFRESHMENTS - We have plenty of tea, coffee and cold refreshments, and we always have some snacks on the go, too! There is also lunch provided at this all-day workshop.</h3><h3>5. PARKING - We have several allocated spaces directly outside. Alternatively, there is parking available on Aspen Drive, which surrounds the carpark of the buildings in which we are based. Please do not park in the spaces of other businesses, as you may get clamped.</h3><h3>6. NO CHILDREN - Whilst our hub is child-friendly we wouldn't recommend bringing children, as we are focused on adult-learning during this workshop.</h3><h3>7. ACCESS: Our event space is on the ground floor with wide access doors.</h3>
