Natural Cosmetics: Calendula Balm Workshop at the Floating Garden

We are dedicated to giving young people opportunities to play a part in creating a sustainable future.Our projects focus on three interdependent themes of 'I, We & The Planet'. This approach increases awareness of self, community and the natural environment and instils young people with the confidence to generate change in the business and local community of King's Cross, London.

Learn with us in our beautiful community garden spaces! Learn about natural cosmetics, herbalism, mending, repairing, making with clay  and more. By participating in our workshops, you help support the charity as a whole and our continued community work.

Join us for a natural cosmetics workshop - using ingredients from our gardens and key organic materials. Calendula is a flower with properties that can speed up healing of cuts and bruises. It can also easily infuse into a moisturising balm that is perfect for dry and sensitive skin. Learn to make this on our wide beam barge just steps away from Coal Drops Yard.Join us for a practical session where we will:<ul><li>discuss good foraging practises and the right time of year for harvesting</li><li>our personal experiences of making natural cosmetics</li><li>learn the process of infusing and making natural balms</li></ul>We will provide:<ul><li>all the materials needed</li><li>basic instructions for future balm making at home</li></ul>About the Space and AccessibilityThe Floating Garden is a barge moored along the Regents Canal near Coal Drops Yard with views of the surrounding area. There is an indoor classroom space on the barge so the session will go ahead rain or shine. The barge is not yet completely wheelchair accessible - there is a set of stairs that lead directly to the mooring or lifts that give access to the towpath, however there is one step required to get from the towpath to the barge and steps from the main deck area to the toilet. Please speak to the team if you have specific accessibility questions.About Global Generation:<a href="https://www.globalgeneration.org.uk/" title="https://www.globalgeneration.org.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Global Generation</a> is an environmental education charity with garden sites located throughout London. We offer activities such as urban food growing, supporting bees, carpentry, cooking, storytelling, creative writing, performance and more. We aim to create the conditions for people to come together, connect with themselves, others and their local area and to practically and creatively contribute to ecological and social change. Tickets are priced on a sliding scale, and we encourage those who can, to pay it forward. We have a donation option where you can put money towards supporting the work we do including offering free spaces for community members.
