Supporting menopause in the workplaceJoin us on Thursday 12th September 12-1pm for an online interactive workshop, with key speakers from Hormones on the blink. This session is suited to anyone going through menopause or supporting people that are whether that is at work or home.Why is menopause awareness important?The average age of menopause in the UK is 51, perimenopause for many can start 4 - 10 years before. Then there are those that will go through it prematurely as a result of cancer treatments or premature ovarian insufficincy.According to a survey by Dr Louise Newson of over 3000 women found that 59% had taken time off work for menopause related symptoms, 18% for more than eight weeks. With women over 50 becoming the fastest growing demographic, supporting our employees has never been so important.What we'll cover in this online interactive workshop and how that will help you: <ul><li>What is menopause &amp; who does it impact?</li></ul>You'll learn exactly what menopause is and who is impacted, spoiler alert...it's not just women in their 50's. It will enable you to take a more inclusive approach to menopause. <ul><li>Mental and physical signs to look out for</li></ul>We'll discuss some of the not so common symptoms that are associated with perimenopause and menopause so that you'll know what to look out for both for yourself and those around you. When armed with this knowledge, this can help with reducing time to diagnosis and treatment. <ul><li>The science behind the changes</li></ul>This is where the penny drops and menopause comes to life, if you love to know the science, the hows and whys, you will love this part. You'll leave with increased empathy and understanding for anyone going through it and be able to see in black and white why symptoms can have such an impact. <ul><li>How menopause might affect professional and personal life</li></ul>We'll discuss some of the ways that people can be impacted, how this might show up and work and the most appropriate ways to support <ul><li>Practical tips for supporting someone going through menopause</li></ul>Whether its a colleague, a member of your team, or your partner that is going through perimenopause / menopause right now, you'll learn some game changing and insightful takeaways on how you can support <ul><li>What help is available?</li></ul>We'll cover what options there are both from a medical perspective and hollistic and wellbeing angle and include signposting. <ul><li>Q&A</li></ul>Over to you: This is your chance to ask those questions you haven't been able to get answers to. Her goal is to enable workplaces to foster inclusive and supportive environments for those going through menopause or hormone health challenges and empower individuals to have a more positive menopause and hormone health experience through interactive, educational workshops and training.Ros ThompsonRos has a wealth of personal experience of going through surgical menopause at an early age, followed by breast cancer and was unable to take HRT as a result. This led Ros to have a specialist interest in alternative and holistic therapies and is a qualified Bach flower therapist. Ros’s passion lies in helping educate, inform and support both workplaces and individuals so that they can make informed choices about their current and future health well-being and offer hope and options to those who may feel their choices are limited.Bianca BrathwaiteBianca is passionate about raising awareness of the link between mental health and hormones and has a particular interest in PMDD, bringing her personal experience to the table. Bianca is an experienced and enthusiastic public speaker and the heart and soul behind the non-profit mindset maintenance. Her sincere, down-to-earth approach and passion for helping people foster open dialogue about once-taboo topics, facilitating positive transformations.
