Strathclyde Business School (SBS) was founded in 1948 and is a pioneering, internationally renowned academic organisation with a reputation for research excellence. One of four faculties forming the University of Strathclyde, SBS is a triple accredited business school (AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB) and was the first business school in Scotland to achieve this accolade in 2004. The Business School is home to seven subject departments and a number of specialist centres, all of which collaborate to provide a dynamic, fully-rounded and varied programme of specialist and cross-disciplinary courses.

Our one-year Economics Masters programmes are suitable for those wishing to develop their careers in a wide range of sectors, including in economics, finance, statistics, banking, energy, environment, health administration, government agencies, charities management, international agencies and NGOs.This online event will give you an opportunity to find out more about the department and programmes on offer for September 2024. Our Academic Directors Dr Grant Allan and Dr Nikolaos Danias will provide an overview of the Department and programmes. Dr Grant AllanGrant Allan is a Reader in the Department of Economics. He joined the University in 2002, initially as a Research Assistant in the Fraser of Allander Institute. Grant's research interests in applied multisectoral economic analysis and modelling, particularly in the areas of environment, energy and tourism. He is Director of Postgraduate Taught Programmes for the Department of Economics and also Director of MSc in Applied Economics (full and part-time), MSc in Applied Economics by distance learning and MSc in Economics and Finance.Dr Nikolaos DaniasNikos obtained his PhD in Economics from the University of Strathclyde in 2013. Previous to this, he studied in the University of Piraeus from which he received his BSc in Industrial Management and Technology in 2003, and his MBA in Total Quality Management in 2006. In 2015, Nikos became Fellow of The Higher Education Academy he also obtained his MSc in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from the University of Strathclyde.
