(National Bike Week) 'Fix it and safety check' drop-in session

We are a not-for-profit, co-operatively run cycle organisation in Preston that enables Preston communities to access and get on their bikes, and reduce waste by re-using and recycling bikes that otherwise might end up in landfill.Our vision - Preston as a place where everyone in the community benefits from more people cycling, where everyone can experience the benefits of owning, maintaining and riding their own bike.Aims -To actively break down barriers to cycling and promote the benefits of cycling, especially of cycling those short everyday journeys, to as many people as we can.Ethos - At Preston Pedals we believe that more people cycling is better for our health and wellbeing as well as our environment.We bring people together to improve access to cycling. Our friendly and welcoming bike mechanics and ride leaders refurbish bicycles; fix and show people how to repair their bicycles and we organise social led rides. In summary:1. Refurbish used bikes - we refurbish second hand bikes donated from the public giving them a new lease of life and saving them from going to landfill.2. Bike repair and maintenance - we work in communities to support everyone who wants to learn how to repair and maintain their bicycle, upskilling and educating them to increase confidence in looking after bikes.3. Support to ride – we help to build the confidence of cyclists, especially newbie and less experienced cyclists through social led rides that are fun!4. Develop a cycling culture - growing a community who cycle, and a culture of everyday cycling in Preston for proven benefits for health, wellbeing and improving our environment.We have been kindly supported by grants from the National Lottery Community Fund, Preston City Council, Cycling UK Big Bike Revival, Preston Co-operative Development Network (PCDN), and Lancashire County Council Active Travel Team.Bike donations always gratefully received!

Repair and Safety Check Drop-In Sessions with Preston Pedals

<ul><li>Want to use your bike more?</li><li>Is getting it fixed a problem?</li><li>Was your New Year’s resolution to get out more on your bike in 2024?</li></ul> Preston Pedals Dr Bike/FIX can help you! Funded by Cycling UK, the Big Bike Revival aims to make cycling accessible to everyone, to help fund sessions to repair broken bikes and essential checks to ensure more people feel confident their bikes are safe to ride. Bring your bike along to the Plungington Community Centre for Volunteer Week's event. Our expert mechanics will assess what's needed and give your bike some TLC for FREE!! Pick your bike up by 18:00 latest, or as agreed with the mechanics. (Our Dr Bike can't fix major repairs but our mechanic can advise) Hurry as its first come, first served, so please drop off your bike as early as possible.
