Housing is more than houses

There are two walks as part of the London Festival of Architecture. Both are called 'Housing is more than houses' and are based on the ideas of Catherine Bauer, Josef Frank, Christopher Alexander and others. 

And a talk on Red Vienna.

Jenny and Karl Marx and their children lived in Soho in the 1850s. For a time Friedrich Engels and Earnestine and Wilhelm Liebknecht lived nearby. It was here that Marx began to develop the ideas that became Das Kapital.After the revolutions of 1848, communist refugees came to the area. Following the Paris Commune of 1871, communards arrived. We'll explore the topography of exile, the theory of capital, labour power, exploitation; and emancipation. Along the way we'll walk through the architecture and history of the area.
