Tell me more about the artist

Jules Bradbury is an accomplished visual artist. Her gorgeous little studio is based in the grounds of Traquair House. She runs many drawing and printmaking workshops across the region, including her 'Art Counts classes, run as part of the Adult Education programme from Scottish Borders Council.

Where can I see some of Jules' work?

Visit Jules' website: www.no-still-life.com  Find her on Instagram @no_still_life   She exhibits regularly...recent exhibitions include: 'By Leaves We live' in Priorwood garden and 'LA-Ha' at Little Art Hub Galashiels. Her studio is open to visitors most weekends where you'll find her work for sale.

What is special about Traquair House?

Traquair House is Scotland's oldest inhabited house, dating from 1107, visited by many Kings and Queens. Traquair has been the family home of the Stuarts since 1491. Visitors come from all over the world. The gardens are beautiful & lush––with a maze, walled garden and café within extensive grounds.

Yes, there is plenty of car parking available

Can I reach Traquair by public transport?

Accepted Answer

The X62 bus (Edinburgh–Peebles–Galashiels) stops in Innerleithen, approx. a 1 mile pleasant stroll to the grounds of Traquair

Question 6

Are the drawing sessions accessible?

Accepted Answer

Wheelchair users are welcome. With advance notice, Jules will gear the workshop to a spot with easy access. Wherever possible, Jules will endeavour to accommodate needs. However, please note: in most cases, the ground is uneven. Paths are often gravel. Occasionally we will encounter a few steps.

Do I need to bring anything?

All materials and drawing boards will be provided. We recommend  you to bring a kneeler or a lightweight folding chair, if desired . We also advise sunscreen/a hat and dress for comfort to accommodate the Scottish weather!

Question 8

What if the weather is rainy?

Accepted Answer

Generally, we will draw outside in all weather––be prepared! However, in the event of adverse conditions we will work inside in Jules' studio, located in the grounds.

Question 9

If I book a ticket to draw, do I have to pay entry to the grounds of Traquair House?

Accepted Answer

Entry price to the grounds is included in your ticket to participate in the drawing session in the gardens. If you wish to visit the house, you can pay separately at the door

Question 10

Are there toilets nearby?

Accepted Answer

Yes, there are toilets by the café and by the house.
