Foundation Day. How horses really learn!

1/2 classroom-based. 1/2 hands-on horse training

We will explore the basics of Behavioural Science and Learning Theory as applied to horses and take away all the myths of how they really learn.

Topics covered will be Classical Conditioning, Operant Conditioning, Brain systems and emotions. We will cover how memories are formed- both good and bad and how we can then change unwanted behaviours into great new ones.

Its a fascinating subject and one which affects every horse and every horse owner.

We will explore the use of positive reward and marker training to shape future behaviour and understand how to change the emotions which drive all behaviour.

You will learn about every training choice available to you and how to decide how to use this knowledge in your everyday management and training protocols..

9.30 am arrive

3.30 to 4.00 pm finish
