Parkinson's Disease is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world. There is currently no cure for this progressive condition which can have a huge impact on you both physically and mentally. It causes tremors, stiffness of limbs and trunk, pain, impaired balance and coordination, depression and anxiety, changes in memory and thinking and so much more. Our aim is simple- to improve the lives of all those affected by Parkinson's today, not tomorrow.Parkinson’s Care and Support UK is the only UK charity which focuses on Integrative and Complementary Therapies, Holistic Health, Wellness and Care to improve life with Parkinson’s and to help people live better for longer. Parkinson’s Care and Support UK are proactive about health. We are driven by positivity and by understanding that we can improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s. Our work directly improves the quality of life of people affected by Parkinson’s today, not tomorrow.We provide a wide range of free services including:· Respite Care· Visiting Care· Parkinson’s Specific Exercise Classes· Home based Neurological Physiotherapy· Home based Occupational Therapy· Speech and Language, Singing and Micrographia Therapy· The Parkinson’s Mental Health Support Hub, providing Parkinson’s CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Parkinson’s ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), End of Life and Bereavement Support Line and a Befriending and Companionship Network· Training· Information and advice on Diet and Nutrition, Exercise, Mental Health Support, Integrative and Complementary Therapies and much more.Although we fund non-pharmaceutical research into how we can slow down, reverse or even prevent the onset of Parkinson’s, we are mindful that thousands of people living with the condition need support today.  People with Parkinson’s need to be encouraged to be proactive about their health, but do not need pity or sympathy. They need to be understood, given clear and unbiased information, services and care that will enable life to be lived to the fullest.Parkinson’s Care and Support UK does not believe in simply masking symptoms with medications. Let's Step Up 2 Parkinson's with our VIRTUAL Hampstead Heath Walk

*******DUE TO GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS THIS EVENT IS NOW VIRTUAL************With regret, Parkinson's Care and Support UK have cancelled our mass annual Hampstead Heath Walk due to recent changes on social gatherings. You are still permitted to carry out your 5km or 10km walk in Hampstead Heath, however, if you are doing the walk with friends and family that you do not live with, then your walk group can be of no more than 6 people. If you see other people doing the Step Up 2 Parkinson's Walk, please do not approach them or walk with them, unless your combined groups total no more than 6 people. You can stroll, jog or push on the 2 circular routes through the Heath’s beautiful landscape. There’s a 5km and a 10km option to ensure the route is suitable for all ages and all levels of fitness.Hampstead Heath is one of London's most popular open spaces, situated just six kilometres from Trafalgar Square. It is an island of beautiful countryside, rich in wildlife and extensive sports and recreational opportunities. There are at least 55 historical features, monuments and archaeological sites on Hampstead Heath, which form a vital part of its character. They'll be plenty of opportunity to capture some wonderful pictures whilst out walking.There is no longer a start or finish time to the walk. The walk was set to take place on the 20th September and so you can still walk on this date. If this is not suitable, the walk can be done at any other time throughout the year.How We Will Support You- Free Parkinson's Care and Support UK t-shirt- A Step Up 2 Parkinson's welcome pack with fundraising materials, tips and walk information and routes- a dedicated fundraising team to help you every step of the wayRegistration fee (includes a Step Up 2 Parkinson's t-shirt): £10 adults, Under 16s £5, Under 5s FREEMinimum sponsorship: Raise as much as you can!UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO REGISTER PARTICIPANTS ON THE DAY OF THE WALK. Why not use the Strava App, which will keep track of your walk route and distance. This can be linked to your Justgiving page so your friends and family can see that you have completed the event.
